One Month!

Since we launched this new blog on October 25th, we’ve been busy bloggers looking for wedding inspiration all over. In the past month, we’ve had 75 posts, 1,180 visits with 552 unique visitors. It’s been such an encouraging process. Thank you so much for supporting us!

We promise we will have a line up of amazing content in the near future (we’re already full of ideas!) so look out for:

  • Guest contributions
  • Downloads, yes, that means freebies
  • A portfolio (finally going to show you some projects we are working on)!

We’ve been adding new sections with music, notes and we’re also now on Twitter. Hope you have been enjoying everything as much as we have. We’re excited and look forward to expanding this blog.

PS. We really enjoy reading the comments, so leave us a note to say hello :)

Delicate Headbands

I am so happy to say that these wonderful hair accessories I am about to show you, are designed by a talented sister team based in Toronto (yay!). I love wearing headbands because they are such a simple and cute ornament.

These romantic and vintage looking headbands are by OdalisPetitMenagerie. I love the soft silk fabric flower, with a pearl in the middle…Their selection is simple enough for everyday wear, but the styles can also suit a fancy wedding affair. I definitely see myself picking up the gold leaf one ;)

Ana Carucci

I love food, in its physical form and in illustration and photography. These illustrations for Gourmet Magazine, are whimsical and delicate…just the way I like it! The self-taught illustrator behind these playful drawings is Ana Carucci, who comes from Argentina.

Happy Listening: So Nice

Here’s a little samba tune that just makes me feel so cheery :)

Sea Unicorn

The jewelery from the Sea Unicorn shop is absolutely dreamy. The soft, romantic photography first caught my eye, but it was the petite collection of lockets, bows, trinkets and whimsical creatures that kept me smiling.

Polaroid Couples

This is the cutest set of polaroids I have seen in a while. Each group of 9 polaroids, give a warm and fuzzy feeling while telling a love story.

The compositions capture the details and intimacy between a couple. A perfect snapshot of the moment :)

Katrin Schwulst

Katrin Schwulst creates simplistic compositions with intricate handdrawn patterns and muted colours, and the outcome is rather charming. I almost feel like I’m back in the 1970s again… oh wait, I was never around for that decade. Nevermind. Her illustrations are still super sweet though.

Shahzia Sikander

I was at the Museum of Modern Art two days ago while visiting New York, and came across the work of talented Pakistani artists, Shahzia Sikander. The particular piece on exhibit was, Candied, which caught my eye and heart. Twenty pieces of paper, prepared with a painted background were tiled on a large wall. Each sheet was a mixed-media composition of inks and gouche. The monochromatic pinks and corals were so romantic, and I just wish I had a photo to share.

Here are two small examples of Shahzia’s work, the first one from the Candied piece I mentioned. Imagine the same fluid strokes and beautiful soft colours, in twenty different pieces! I think painted backgrounds and rough edges would look very interesting for a set of invites :)

If you are in the area, and happen to visit MOMA (which I strongly suggest you do because the current Tim Burton and Bauhaus modernity exhibitions are breath-taking to all artists/non-artists, adults and children), Shahzia’s piece is located on the first floor in the contemporary section.

Happy Listening: Eight Days a Week

One thing you’ll realize very quickly about me (and perhaps you already have) is that I am a huge fan of covers. So here I go again with a song that was originally released by The Beatles in 1964, Eight Days a Week. I grew up listening to The Beatles thanks to my dad and I am forever grateful. Their songs stand the test of time as being some of the most charming and moving out there. Other versions of this song have been recorded, but this West Indian Girl version is by far my favourite. It’s tender and feels like warm sunshine when I listen to it. If you want something light-hearted and fun to add to your playlist, this is the one!
