La Santa Muerte

Since Halloween is quickly approaching, I found this Day of the Dead themed work from Ebelyn Hernandez’s La Santa Muerte shop especially adorable and seasonally appropriate.

You can find everything from zombie wedding cake toppers, sugar skull earrings, skeleton couple painted portraits, and much more bright and lively cultural artwork. Custom work is very welcome too! Also as a little something special… until October 16th, 15% of all proceeds will go to benefit the Aids Project of Los Angeles.

Geronimo Balloon-Troopers

A friend shared this fabulous find with me, and it seems she knows me so well. Giant colourful balloons with flowing metallic fringe? I don’t know what else to say except… YES PLEASE!

Sneak Peek: Fabric Flag Toppers

Here is just a little taste of what’s to come. I’ve been working on dessert toppers, particularly these easy to mold fabric flags. I’m just perfecting the process, but the should be hitting the shop by the end of next week.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Beautiful Backyard Wedding Shoot

Happy Friday everyone! I’m finally in my new apartment after a disastrous moving experience, but things are looking better and I just can’t wait to be fully unpacked.

For the weekend I leave you with a sweet backyard shoot by Anne Robert featuring couple Naomi and Josh from the Rockstar Diaries blog. I love the tree swing! What a playful and heart-warming scene.

Moving, Building and Updates

The fall season is nearly upon us, and since it’s my favourite season, I’m uber excited. However it is the big season for change. In fact, there are multiple changes and projects I’m juggling at the moment. The biggest and most frustrating of those things being a move into another apartment. I’m thrilled to be staying in the same neighborhood, but it doesn’t come without all the packing and cleaning, and then unpacking again. I can’t wait for the end of the month to roll by and have this thing done with.

Then comes a big build process that was inspired by a sit-down with a University teacher of mine. He encouraged me to dive into various printing processes, and bought up the idea of building my own nipping/printing press. I thought it was a fabulous idea and so – I’m doing it! The materials are purchased, I’m just waiting on the help of a crafty friend when he returns from a trip. So by mid-September I will be revealing that process to you, along with all the results. It should be interesting…

And finally, in the next couple weeks I will be posting plenty of updates to my Etsy shop and blog.

Stay turned for all that and more! xo

p.s. check out the fun colours that were requested for these custom canvas flags I made. They were for Gaelan from Uschi & Kay, as requested for her flower girl to carry down the aisle. What a clever idea! I’m always impressed by her ideas and blog posts, and I’m so glad I could help be a small addition to her event. Congrats again to the bride-to-be!

Ice Cream Cone Piñata

Ice cream is one of my most favourite desserts, especially in the summertime. But an ice cream cone piñata? Now that’s just gold! Check out the process of how it was made by Sarah Parrott here. It seems relatively simple, actually. Just a lot of newspaper, glue, and craft time. If my birthday wasn’t in February, I would definitely want one.

Light Bulb Beauties

I have actually had this thought after screwing out out a dead lightbulb: “…but it’s still so pretty. I don’t want to throw it out.” Seriously, who thinks that a expired lightbulb is pretty and still worth hanging on to? Well, apparently I wasn’t the only one…

What Camilla did over at Family Chic is brilliant! I’m so making one of those candle and bulb jars. Re-using is fun and beautiful!

Terrain Natural Wreaths

I’m not sure quite how, but I stumbled upon these fantastic textured wreaths from Terrain made out of all natural bits of cocoa sticks, purple majesty, golden millet, shaved mahogany bark, and mushrooms. Seriously, it’s pieces like this that I live for! Simple, natural, textured: three of my favourite design components. And if you haven’t already started decorating your home with pretty holiday things like this, start now! It will put you in the spirit.
