Exclaim Cards

If you haven’t yet seen them in the Etsy shop yet, here is the official reveal of my new Exclaim cards for February. The whole set along with trios are available for sale, so get them now while they’re hot… like those little cinnamon heart candies. Valentine’s day is quickly sneaking up on us.

Exclaim is a set of block stamped cards for those incredibly heart-warming occasions where you want to shout out to the rooftops with joy and excitement. The inside of the cards are blank for your personal message. They come with a matching brown kraft envelope and each card is created using careful handcrafted techniques. The stamps were hand carved and printed onto fine quality white card stock.

These are great for weddings, showers, Valentines, engagements, anniversaries… you name it!

Charlie’s First Birthday

These past 2 weekends have been full of fun and celebration. Last weekend when I traveled to Brampton to complete my skating coach course, I also stayed with friends Victoria and Wade and their adorable son Charlie. His rocket themed first birthday was spectacular, with everything from sugar cookies, cheesecake pops, fabric garlands, pom poms, a DIY photobooth and backdrop that I constructed, and of course Victoria’s delicious cupcakes. Her friend Stephanie was also slaving in the kitchen alongside, since she is super talented with baking treats too.

Victoria runs a cupcake catering business called Victory Cupcakes, and in my opinion – her product is top notch! (My sweet tooth was beyond satisfied). I can’t get enough of that vanilla buttercream frosting she makes. You can visit her mommy blog here. She currently has a post up about this weekend’s event, Smile Bash, which was a thrill for both hosts (myself and Scarlet O’Neill Photography). I’ll be posting my version soon!

Thanks again to Victoria and Wade for letting me crash at their place and join in all the fantastic fun and prep for baby Charlie! Can’t wait to do it again next year.

Soft Maps

Have I ever mentioned how much I love maps as visual inspiration? Well considering this fact, stumbling upon these beautifully crafted Soft Map quilts is probably going to be one of the most exciting things to happen to me today. Soft-Maps © are quilted maps of cities and neighborhoods created by Haptic Lab Inc. that represent someone’s unique place in the world. Wrap your children in them, have a picnic, pull them close during the next Nor’easter. As a keepsake, a Soft-Map serves as an intimate reminder of home: where you’re from and where you belong. In a world that is increasingly digitized and remote, a quilted Soft-Map provides an expressive way to reconnect with your surroundings.

Not only beautiful, these blankets can be used as a mnemonic tool. As your child grows up with a Soft Map, they learn to read their neighborhood and its landmarks in a tactile, easily remembered way.

Soft-Maps are the 2x winner of the 2009 Apartment Therapy Design Showcase and have been featured in Coolhunting, PSFK, Brooklyn Based, L.A. Times and the Cooper Hewitt’s 2009 Reader’s Choice National Design Awards. The quilts are now offered in three different varieties: knotted baby quilts, readymade machine-stitched maps, and custom handmade maps.”

Check out all the details at Haptic Lab’s site.

Introducing… Baby Charlie

Like father, like son… hehehe.

As mentioned a few weeks ago, my friends Victoria and Wade have a new bundle of joy at home named Charlie. And I was lucky enough to be hired to create the official birth announcements. Victoria is a cool, young mommy who loves tattoos, so we took the inspiration from there. What does everyone think? Are these cool enough for little Charlie?

Real Event: Waiting for Charlie

I’m pretty sure she’s tried everything including yoga, castor oil, and raspberry leaf tea, but little Charlie still hasn’t arrived yet. Although he’s only 2 days past his due date, I think mom Victoria is getting a bit anxious. Now we just wait…

In the meantime, I figured I’d share Wade and Victoria’s beautiful maternity pictures shot by photographer Nicole Duplantis, and a few purchases the parents-to-be made recently to prepare for Charlie’s arrival.

Check out these great purchases made off Etsy: some adorable wall art from Trafalgar’s Square and fun onesies from Truly Sanctuary.

Someone is going to be a stylish baby…

Moving, Babies, and more!

Finally this is happening: we’re moving in together! Mike and I are both really excited and it’s only a week away. I suppose we could be further along with the packing, but there is still plenty of time, so I’m not too worried. A pile of boxes are already sealed and labeled, and it feels great.

But the news doesn’t stop there…

The following photo was taken a while ago (at 21 weeks), so just imagine where my friend Victoria is at now at 34 weeks. 6 more to go! Isn’t she a beautiful?

So it’s about that time… shower time! I already have the gift for little Charlie purchased and wrapped up. I hope he likes it, and mommy Victoria too of course. Shower details and pics to come in around 2 weeks. I can’t wait for the celebration! I’m bringing lots of delicious teas to serve the lovely ladies who are attending.

What else? Oh yes… I have officially stepped down from my full-time position as a manager, and am now working full-time on H&H! :D I couldn’t be happier. It was the right choice and the right time. But still, bound to be an adventure. So stay tuned for all the exciting details.

Happy Listening: Surprisingly So

So Mother’s Day is long over… and I know, I know… I didn’t do a special post for it – “I’m sorry Mom! I love you!”

I just hope everyone had a great one and got to spend it with their mom. Let’s face it – moms are awesome and they deserve to be shown love and appreciation every day of the year, not just that one.

Speaking of… has anyone seen that Canon commercial with the new born in it? It’s so tender and brilliantly shot, and I instantly fell for the charming song it featured too. The song is called ‘Surprisingly So’ by Amy Seeley (confirmed here, on Amy’s own Twitter status). I found a live version for your listening, but you can go to her website here and download it for just a $1 USD. And all the money goes straight to the artist, so that’s really great!

Enjoy!
