Spring Birds Burlap Banner

Burlap is usually associated with potatoes or rug making. And for a long time that pretty much summed up its uses. But recently artists have been making this material pretty and functional in more ways than one. Was anyone else floored by the designs on episode 2 of this season’s Project Runway? Well that’s what sparked the idea to make it a feature material for a blog post. Just check out Amanda’s shop on Etsy called Funkyshique. It features original burlap banners and other handmade goodies, like these painted gift bags and wall pockets below. A fresh look to an old material. Genius!

Pretty Pretty Clutches

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

I love clutches, wristlets and all sorts of small purses. I like ridiculously large ones too because it can fit just about everything I need in the winter (and like I mentioned before I like to layer up a lot for the cold), but when I can get away with it, I just bring my phone, wallet, keys (sometimes sunglasses, iPod and lip gloss but they’re all tiny).

So here are my picks for this season…some pretty clutches to carry around for a wedding or holiday event :)

pretty clutches

  1. Iced Rosette Clutch from Anthropologie
  2. Smoke Trellis Clutch by Allison Abney
  3. Boudoir Intrecciato Clutch fromĀ Bottega Veneta
  4. Georgia Blue and Pink Clutch Bag by Emma Gordon London
  5. Kotur Snakeskin Pleated Clutch from Asos

Each one of these have their own beautiful details that would really add to a cocktail dress. I am swooning over every single one here, and have had to stop myself from looking for more examples incase I was tempted to make a purchase. If only I had many Christmas/New Year formal parties to attend!
