Nine Cakes

Nine Cakes is a cake studio in Brooklyn, New York specializing in delicious wedding cakes and our nine signature cakes. With creative, handmade designs and seasonal flavor pairings, Nine Cakes “creates something a bit out of the ordinary, a fresh twist on tradition, and a cake to completely devour”. Personally, I find it hard to devour things that look this beautiful. But… I’m sure I can be persuaded if it tastes as good as it looks.

Visit their site for their gorgeous portfolio of custom, seasonal, and signature cakes.

IKEA: Homemade is Best

IKEA has released a new book called Hembakat är Bäst (Homemade is Best), created by design agency Forsman & Bodenfors. Inside the book are 30 classic Swedish baking recipes for everything from small biscuits to large cakes — all using stunning photography by Carl Kleiner and styling by Evelina Bratell . Inspired by high fashion, Japanese minimalism, and geometrics, this book is modernly delicious!

Cupcakes and Sundry

cinnamon and pistachio meringue + gingerbread cupcake

Stephanie is a teacher/baker from Port Credit, Ontario who started a wonderful custom cupcakery called Cupcakes and Sundry. She says that she can make any type of cupcake your heart desires; all you have to do is ask! They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes: jumbo cupcakes, regular cupcakes, mini cupcakes or even cupcake pops.

Check out her most recent creation: Blood Orange and Olive Oil cupcakes for this month’s Cupcake Hero competition. It includes Cointreau and blood orange cream cheese frosting – mmmmmm. Sounds delightful. I’m all about the cream cheese frosting.
