Crazy for Cardigans
Saturday, November 7th, 2009Unlike Sam, I was unfortunate enough to witness the crazy flurries this week, which marks the beginning of winter. I barely had the chance to enjoy fall properly, and snow season is here again :( The cold weather is not my favourite, however, in my four years of living in Canada, I’ve learnt to adjust and embrace the climate (although I am still going to shake my fist at friends enjoying 28C right now back home).
The one thing that helped me most during this transition, was cardigans. They are easy enough to put on over a tank top or t-shirt to transform my originally non-existant winter wardrobe, into something that can help me tough out the Canadian winters. Layering was pretty much my first lesson in dressing for warmth, so I can still make use of my bright coloured tanks from the summer and have them peep through my knits. Dressed up or down, cardigans are great way to cover up…and they cutting is still feminine enough to go over a dress.
I have a Club Monaco Luxe Cardigan, which is basically a staple for me now. Not only is it 100% cashmere and super soft, but it has a cute silk trim on the edge (including the pockets!) Mine even has these clear little balls for buttons, which I can’t stop fiddling with.
Here are some neutral-coloured cardigans I found for Fall ‘09 that could pretty much look cute for any occasion:

- J.Crew’s Sequin Peekabo Cardigan
- Asos’ Soaked In Luxury Foil Oversized Cardigan
- Quiksilver’s Christa Cardigan (I thought they only made surf wear!)
- J.Crew’s Dream Tori Ruffle Cardigan
As the cold weather goes on, you can bet I’ll be featuring some more winter fashion. Stay warm :)
