Happy Listening: Your Song

For someone who works in the wedding industry, I sure didn’t say a heck of a lot about the Royal Wedding. As grande of an event as it was, I suppose I just was a little slow to absorb it all.

My overall thoughts…
Kate was gorgeous. Will was dashing. And the best thing I took away from the whole affair was two amazing love songs to add to my Happy Listening list.

So here is Part One of my Royal Wedding Happy Listening post. Rumor has it this song was chosen by the royal couple for their first dance.

Enjoy!

Happy Listening: Until Tomorrow Then

This song has been at the top of my romance list for years now and I’m so excited to finally be sharing it. It has the essence of a timeless lullaby. The cinematography of the music video is just as mesmerizing as the music itself. You can watch it below or here on Vimeo. The story goes: singer stumbles sorrowfully through desert/Las Vegas dreaming of beautiful songstress.

Prepare to be romanced… Enjoy!

Happy Listening: A.M. 180

For a song that’s titled after a weapon and received much of it’s recognition from a horror movie (28 Days Later), you wouldn’t expect this track to have such endearing lyrics and a charming tune similar to that of a childhood video game. But it does. And it’s delightful. Enjoy!

Happy Listening: Rush Rush

This ballad about the powerful anticipation of summer love was originally released by Paula Abdul, but this version by Sexton Blake removes all the dramatic early 90s cheese, and makes it fun and bubbly. Much better. Enjoy!

Happy Listening: Parentheses

This catchy little diddy comparing embracing bodies to a popular pair of punctuation marks will probably make you smile. I can’t see how it wouldn’t. Enjoy!

Happy Listening: Your Sweet Voice

Today I bring you a tender tune from folk/rock band Milton Mapes. There’s something undeniably epic about this song. Sometimes, simple words or a single embrace can mean everything to a person. Enjoy!

Happy Listening: I Was Made For You

This song has that ‘doo-wop, by the juke box, sippin’ on a soda pop’ sound. If you’re looking for that classic romantic ballad with a bit of a modern twist, try something like the band She & Him featuring the lovely Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward. They are quite the talented pair.

Happy listening!

Happy Listening: My Holiday Cocktail Playlist 2010

I may have spent a few too many hours compiling this playlist for my upcoming holiday party this week, but it’s bound to set the perfect mood for mixing, mingling, and party games. The tracklist goes on but I’ve listed numbers 1-40, and since I couldn’t post every single song for listening, I just chose a few of my favourites for you to check out.

Happy listening and may all your holiday celebrations be merry!

Happy Listening: Everlasting Light

Been listening to the new Brothers album from the Black Keys for a while now and I finally settled on the perfect song to share with you all. Mind you, I have a few other faves from the album (it’s just so darn good!), but this track seemed most appropriate for this week’s happy listening. It’s got that gritty old rock sound that I’m used to hearing from the band, but lyrics are bold vows of love and devotion. If you think this song’s sexy, I highly recommend you listen to the rest of the album. It gets hotter from this opening track on.

Enjoy!
