Real Event: Victoria’s Baby Shower

This weekend was all about spoiling little Charlie, Victoria’s “little chick” as she calls him, who is going to hatch in just a few short weeks. The shower was a huge hit, with delicious food and treats that would have made anyone feel pregnant afterward. I couldn’t stop myself… especially with those darn gourmet jellybeans that were bought. They are my weakness!

The ladies who hosted did a terrific job, I had to post to show off their amazing work. Everything from the cupcakes, iced shortbread cookies and the beautiful decor, everything thing was decked out in matching hues of yellow, green, and blue. So fun and fresh! Even the house dog, Blue (yes that’s her name), dressed up in a blue bow for the occasion.

Oh, and as for my gift, I found this adorable (and very appropriate) organic hooded chick towel by 3 Sprouts at Pistachio. It was too perfect to pass up. I paired it with a bamboo brush from the Body Shop too, so she can give Charlie a stylish mohawk – haha, so she says. We’ll see how much hair she has to work with.

A big thanks to Jodie, Stephanie, and Rachel for the wonderful time! I think mom-to-be was very pleased. ;)

Natsumi Nishizumi

Another wonderful stumble-upon: Natsumi Nishizumi‘s incredibly sweet line and watercolour illustrations. The simplicity is what makes these pieces so magical.

She even has these lovely spotted napkins available for purchase at her online shop. They have been hand-screenprinted with water-based inks on 100% organic linen. Perhaps they would be a perfect addition to your table-setting? The pastel colours and dew-like drops remind me of spring. Oh….how far away it is now.

Fleur de Lis Napkins

Did you know that as the days grow shorter and the temperature drops our appetites increase significantly? It’s true! We actually have a natural instinct to eat more during the fall and winter seasons. It’s a survival tactic, really. All animals and humans are programmed to prepare for the cold weather by eating more, hence causing us to gain weight. Carrying more body fat protects the internal organs by acting as insulation and allows us to store more energy. So since it’s all a part of nature, why not enjoy yourself?

A fall or winter wedding can be enriched with delicious comfort foods, like pies and cream soups, and… we’ll get into more food later. But I actually wanted to point out this beautiful set of ink-stamped, organic linen Fleur de Lis napkins. Hey – if you’re going to go to town on the food, you need something to clean up after yourself. And these are a rustic, handmade touch.
