Happy Listening: I Would Do Anything For You
Happy Listening: Temper Trap
Australian band The Temper Trap have blown up in the last year to become a favourite inspiring soundtrack for television shows, commercials, and a handful of recent romantic comedies. Commercialism aside, their sound is impactful and beautifully climatic. Here are two of my favourite, and their most popular tracks.

Happy Listening: Animal
This quirky track from Miike Snow is perfect for summer listening. ……ya, his last name might contradict this theory, but pair it with some sandals and sunshine and you’ll see what I mean.
Enjoy!

Happy Listening: Bruno Mars
Here’s something a bit more up-beat for this week’s listening. I wanted to get in the habit of featuring some dance tracks now and again. You know,… something you can tap your toes or twirl to. And although pop hits aren’t usually my thing, I’m am swooning over Bruno Mars right now like all the other ‘beautiful girls’ out there. His voice is like butter…. yeah, butter. Got a favourite? Because I couldn’t choose again.
Enjoy!

Happy Listening: Island In The Sun
Well, summer is upon us and I wanted to post something to celebrate the sunshine. Another great video to match the song here, directed by one of my absolute favourite video artists, Spike Jonze. There is an alternative video for this song actually that features the band (Weezer) playing at a Mexican wedding. But it happens to be the less popular of the two …because let’s face it: nothing beats out cute, fuzzy, baby animals on a remote island!!!
Enjoy!
Happy Listening: Digital Love
This one’s a triple threat from two different bands. These quirky and cheerful indie renditions of Daft Punk’s Digital Love have me dancing around the apartment and singing along loudly. Seriously… my cat would confirm this since I almost tripped over him with my happy dancing.
Aphabeat’s acoustic version is my favourite, so I saved it for last. It’s impossible not to hop and spin around to this one. It’s just too cute to resist!

Happy Listening: I Do
As promised, here is Part Two of my Royal Wedding Happy Listening, and this one proves how much of a TLC junkie I am. Yes, TLC (The Learning Channel) and all of their sugary sweet reality dramas about parenting, baking, weddings, and family-run businesses. I can’t get enough of it! So of course they increased promotional activity over the weeks preceding the Royal Wedding, and featured special live coverage of the event the day of, both in New York and in England.
Along with all this they somehow found the perfect song for their commercials leading up to the event. And to top it all off… they even had the songstress perform during the live event in New York City. It was a fantastic end to the televised celebration.
So here it is. This one will really make your day brighter. Enjoy!

Happy Listening: A.M. 180
For a song that’s titled after a weapon and received much of it’s recognition from a horror movie (28 Days Later), you wouldn’t expect this track to have such endearing lyrics and a charming tune similar to that of a childhood video game. But it does. And it’s delightful. Enjoy!

Happy Listening: Rush Rush
This ballad about the powerful anticipation of summer love was originally released by Paula Abdul, but this version by Sexton Blake removes all the dramatic early 90s cheese, and makes it fun and bubbly. Much better. Enjoy!

Happy Listening: Parentheses
This catchy little diddy comparing embracing bodies to a popular pair of punctuation marks will probably make you smile. I can’t see how it wouldn’t. Enjoy!
