Beautiful Backyard Wedding Shoot

Happy Friday everyone! I’m finally in my new apartment after a disastrous moving experience, but things are looking better and I just can’t wait to be fully unpacked.

For the weekend I leave you with a sweet backyard shoot by Anne Robert featuring couple Naomi and Josh from the Rockstar Diaries blog. I love the tree swing! What a playful and heart-warming scene.

Happy Listening: Rush Rush

This ballad about the powerful anticipation of summer love was originally released by Paula Abdul, but this version by Sexton Blake removes all the dramatic early 90s cheese, and makes it fun and bubbly. Much better. Enjoy!

Elie Saab, Spring 2011

It’s been a while since I did a fashion-related post. And when some photos from Elie Saab’s Spring 2011 line crossed my path, I knew I had to share. The couture collection is strewn with soft cream, silver, and lilac shades; elegant bead work; and lacy floral overlays. Hey, if this kind of stuff doesn’t make you look like a million bucks on your wedding day, I don’t know what will.

For more breathtaking pieces from Elie Saab, you can visit the official site for past and current collections.

Anna Miminoshvili

These romantic, structural dresses by Russian designer Anna Miminoshvili just scream ‘spring’, with textured layers that bloom confidently. And I just love the photos from this shoot too. They are whimsical, yet mysterious, like something out of Alice in Wonderland. I want to see more!

The 99 Feelings Project… and a Bunny

While searching for spring/Easter decor and gift ideas, I came upon these little numbers from ArtMind on Etsy and immediately fell in love. These faceless little babushkas have pretty textures and shapes added to them to each convey their own feeling. It’s part of a series called the 99 Feelings Project. The bunny is not a part of the project, but I had to feature him because he’s seasonally appropriate… and so darn cute! You can see the whole collection here.

The artist states that “a lot of time and love goes into each one”, so you know you’re getting something special. Whether you want to give these away as gifts, or keep them for yourself, they would certainly make a playful addition to any home.

Burlap

Spring Birds Burlap Banner

Burlap is usually associated with potatoes or rug making. And for a long time that pretty much summed up its uses. But recently artists have been making this material pretty and functional in more ways than one. Was anyone else floored by the designs on episode 2 of this season’s Project Runway? Well that’s what sparked the idea to make it a feature material for a blog post. Just check out Amanda’s shop on Etsy called Funkyshique. It features original burlap banners and other handmade goodies, like these painted gift bags and wall pockets below. A fresh look to an old material. Genius!
