Dynamo Chocolate Type

The brilliant minds over at Dynamo came up with the concept of combining original type design with gourmet chocolate. They teamed up with Suite 88, MontrĂ©al’s premier chocolatier, and let them work their magic. The result was some delicious heavyweight slabs of chocolate, engraved with positive mantras for the new year. Check out their post featuring their mouth-watering typocolate.

Happy Listening: What Are You Doing New Years Eve?

Something wonderful to take you into the weekend. A delightful rendition by two of my favourite people… errr… celebrity crushes. Thank you Zooey and Joseph for making the end of the year so sweet.

Sugar Baking

I swear if most bakers were asked what their favourite thing to play with was as a kid, most of them would answer Play-Doh. Well, at least that’s the impression I get when I see adorable creations like the ones from Sugar Baking. They offer custom cupcake, cookie, and mini cake delivery around the GTA. The attention to detail in every piece is remarkable!

Check out their website and Flickr page for more sweet details and photos.

Eat Cake Love

A couple weeks ago I attended the Mass Exodus fashion event at Ryerson. I was there to perform my duties as a event rep and serve people some delicious tea. It was a great time and I was making great connections as usual, but I couldn’t take my eye of these…

While on break, I may have taken more than one to snack on and was blown away by the light fluffy chocolate cake and perfectly sweet and satisfying icing. I had to swipe a card. I followed up with baker Heidi from Eat Cake Love, and although she says it’s something she just does “on the side”, her passion for baking truly shines in these beautifully constructed treats. Drop her a line at eatcakelove@live.ca if you’re in the Toronto area and want to experience them for yourself.

Happy Listening: Your Sweet Voice

Today I bring you a tender tune from folk/rock band Milton Mapes. There’s something undeniably epic about this song. Sometimes, simple words or a single embrace can mean everything to a person. Enjoy!

Eat Cake, Be Merry

Liz Shim, owner and head designer of Eat Cake, Be Merry in New York, couldn’t have chose a better name for her custom bake shop. Spotted on Something Old, Something New, these detailed edible works of art immediately caught my attention. Everything from colour, pattern, and texture is fabulous! ……fabulously delicious too, I’m sure.
