Maricor Maricar

I’ve seen this work trickling on Pinterest, but coming across a full, detailed blog post on Plenty of Colour dedicated to Maricor Maricar had me in awe. And this awe continued when I ventured onto their official site. Their stitched and embroidered typographic work is stunning and anything but average. I love the use of colour and high degree of experimentation. Now I’m itching to get out my embroidery floss and ribbon and attempt something typographic with these materials for my next project. Especially since I’ve been considering it for some time now…

Postcard of the Month Club

Adam J. Kurtz, a talented artist/designer I follow frequently, has a great ongoing project in action called the Postcard of the Month Club. It’s been running all year, but it’s not too late to jump on board. It includes twelve postcard prints delivered over the course of 2011, plus a welcome kit to catch you up when you first join!

Membership for 2011 is only $22 (USA), and the welcome package features one of each postcard from January 2011 until time you sign up, 2 pins, 2 pencils, and a personalized welcome letter. Monthly postcard mailings will follow until January 2012. Hooray! Sign me up!

Frame them to use as prints or mail them out with heart-warming messages to your friends. Either way, it’s an awesome gift.

Click here to purchase the postcard club membership or visit Adam’s online shop for super-serious print products and other trinkets. That not enough? Check out his wicked portfolio.

Happy Listening: Parentheses

This catchy little diddy comparing embracing bodies to a popular pair of punctuation marks will probably make you smile. I can’t see how it wouldn’t. Enjoy!

Bold Brunch

I had to share this bold, yet simply modern, graphic approach that In The Now Events took when putting together this beautiful brunch for the Serra Plaza Venue opening party. Also involved in the planning was Good Gracious Events and the photographs were shot by Ashleigh Taylor Photography. It’s a graphic designer’s dream. ….really! You can’t get more straightforward than this. Love it!

Friday Wrap: Stamped Type on Fabric

Happy Friday! Oh, what a busy week I’ve had. But I couldn’t leave you hanging without another Friday Wrap. Next week’s will surely be a special custom one from yours truly, but today I present another fun (yet possibly slightly messy) tutorial from Poppytalk.

Right now fabric wraps seem to be super popular, not only because they’re soft and unique, but because you can reuse the fabric after the gift has been unwrapped. How handy! So head over to the Poppytalk blog if you’re keen to make you’re own custom-stamped wrapping fabric. Have a great weekend everyone! …and try not to make too much of a mess.

With Love type series

The With Love type series is a gift range which is based around the form of the ampersand created by Scott Marc Berry. The designs incorporate the ampersand into sayings or phrases that can represent particular annual occasions. The range is extended across cards and gift bags.

ABC Paper Cups

These disposable paper cups from I Am Design in Korea are versatile and extremely cute. Each cup has a unique colour and pattern, and can be used for all sorts of possibilities and events. The studio even made a video to show examples of its uses, that will hopefully inspire some party-planners. It would go very well with a game night, don’t you think?
