Happy Listening: What Are You Doing New Years Eve?

Something wonderful to take you into the weekend. A delightful rendition by two of my favourite people… errr… celebrity crushes. Thank you Zooey and Joseph for making the end of the year so sweet.

A Wedding, in Stop Motion

Stop motion has always been a quirky/cute approach in video-making. And when Bayly & Moore use this technique to capture weddings, something magical happens. See what I mean by watching the video below.

And if that isn’t enough magic for you, head over to their Vimeo page to see the rest.

Happy Listening: With a Girl Like You

Check out this Super 8 style wedding video shot and edited by Sharkpig that features the oldies hit With a Girl Like You. Sharkpig is part of the awesomely rad collective known as The Flash Dance. I’m a huuuuuge fan of this group of artists. They make weddings so much cooler, which is what I’m always trying to do. Below the vid I have a more modern version of the same song by TV on the Radio member, David Sitek, for the beautiful compilation album Dark Was The Night. Have a listen and let me know which you prefer.

Happy Listening!

Happy Listening: The Girl

Today’s Happy Listening video was found via Blush Affairs, a boutique-firm based in Toronto and London, specializing in designing unique events for every occasion. I am fortunate enough to be invited to participate in their Brunch for the Cure event this year being held in Brampton on June 26th, by donating a special Have & Hold stationery gift package for their silent auction. I’m planning to put in lots of great goodies, including my Celebrate! line and a few new fancy things that I have yet to reveal. Just you wait! It’s coming up real fast… And I am truly excited to be helping out. But there is also a way you can help out too, and not only by attending yourself (which you should, because I’m sure it will be fantastic)…

By clicking “like” on their Facebook Page, Blush Affairs in partnership with Circle of Hope will donate $1 to the Princess Margaret Hospital. Funding goes to breast cancer research, education, services and general care. So please share this page, and click “like” to help.

And now something for your ears… and eyes! I’m loving the new trend of Save the Dates in video form. Particularly this fun theme park announcement, paired with the song The Girl by City and Colour. It just shows that couples can really get creative when planning and sharing their event details with friends and family. There is no limit to format and style. Enjoy!

Happy Listening: Beirut

Beirut is the type of music I can listen to all summer long. It reminds me of far away places, waves crashing on beaches, sunshine and good company. There is something very… well, let me just quote Wikipedia since whoever wrote the article on the band there seemed to sum them up perfectly: “the music combines elements of Eastern European and Balkan folk with Western pop music, fusing the American mainstream and indie-rock culture and the World Music market”. …that’s exactly what I was trying to express.

So because I couldn’t pick a favourite, I’m featuring two spectacularly romantic songs by Beirut today. The first is Elephant Gun and the video is a gorgeous piece of art incorporating modern dance. I absolutely love the styling for this video. You know how much I love confetti!

The second song is Postcards From Italy and the video featured here is a beautiful piece from For You Love Me featuring husband and wife team Josh and Naomi Davis from The Rockstar Diaries. I just had to share it!

Happy Listening: Until Tomorrow Then

This song has been at the top of my romance list for years now and I’m so excited to finally be sharing it. It has the essence of a timeless lullaby. The cinematography of the music video is just as mesmerizing as the music itself. You can watch it below or here on Vimeo. The story goes: singer stumbles sorrowfully through desert/Las Vegas dreaming of beautiful songstress.

Prepare to be romanced… Enjoy!

Light Writing Proposal

This blew me away :) You’ll have to see it yourself…

Derick Childress proposed to his girlfriend using light and a long exposure. The final image is beautiful, and it’s extra awesome that the video is accompanied with the Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack! I love the creativity, and I’m sure his fiancee, Emily, did too :)
