I decided to scrap the red and green this year for holiday wrapping, and instead went with an icy blue and metallic colour scheme. For this wrap you can use a variety of materials to make each package slightly unique, but picking a constant material (like in this case the light blue streamer) will help make all your wrappings cohesive.
Materials:
- Kraft paper
- Scissors
- Tape
- A roll or 2 of party streamers (in whatever color your choose)
- Festive ribbons, yarn, and string
- Any other little decorative items you might want to add, like bells or holiday balls
Steps:
1. Wrap your gift in simple paper, whether it be kraft or a single-shade colour or metallic. Then take the end of your streamer roll and tape it to the back of the package. Begin wrapping it around the body of the package multiple times, making sure to create a layered effect by slightly shifting the position of the streamer each time you wrap it around.

2. Once satisfied with the look of the streamer, finish it off at the back of the package again with just a small piece of tape to hold it in place. Using clear tape will make it discrete. To finish the gift off, choose you ribbon or string and wrap it around the gift in traditional style. You can choose to wrap both vertically and horizontally around the package, or just horizontally layering over the streamer for a simpler look. Tie the bow to finish it off.

TIP: I learned how to cut the perfect ribbon end this week! It’s so easy. Just fold the loose end of the ribbon in half (vertically) and cut on a sharp angle, inward towards the fold (crease) of the ribbon. Voila! A perfect triangle cut for your ribbon end. :)
Now have fun with this cheap and easy solution for your holiday wraps! When you’re finished, show them off proudly by uploading them to Flickr or your own blog and post the link in the comments here for everyone to see. Looking forward to it. Happy gift wrapping!
